Agos
In Armenia, there is an immeasurable viticultural potential.
Considered the birthplace of wine, the Caucasus region continues to surprise us, and Agos is gradually becoming a global reference.
An encounter with the history and ancestors of wine through a long journey that takes us to Armenia. Vayots Dzor is located in the south-central part of the country, about 130 km from the capital Yerevan, bounded by an imposing mountainous relief, this valley benefits from a continental climate and optimal conditions for the culture of the vine.
Agos ("furrow" in Armenian, like those used to circulate water) is a singular story, initiated by Marie Siranossian, a lady of wine in the Lyon region, custodian of great wine estates whose surname reveals its origin.
The idea of making a cuvée in her heartland was born after several meetings with local producers. At Marie's instigation, the adventure took shape with Damien Gachot, a winemaker and long-time friend in the Côte de Nuits. He was immediately attracted by the idea of vinifying ARENI, an indigenous grape variety that was probably one of the first to be selected by Homo sapiens, in the Burgundian style. Damien did a remarkable job for the first vintage in 2017. Agos becomes reality!
The seduction operates very quickly with aromas of stewed black fruits, pepper and violet. The ageing in oak brings elegance and finesse.
It is a solar wine bursting with freshness, reflecting the southern latitude and high altitude of the vineyard.
The upcoming vintages are of an incredible standard, we love the multicultural panorama and Burgundian precision. Drank very often and naturally approved by Winedigger.
