Words from the digger

A historic terroir of Pouilly Fuissé brought to the fore by Olivier Merlin, a renowned winemaker from the Mâconnais. Clos des Quarts is located in the village of Chaintré, the southernmost part of the appellation, and the oldest vines were planted in 1917. Today the total surface area of Clos des Quarts is 2 hectares and 65 ares.
Overlooking the Saône valley, this magnificent vineyard is protected by a high stone wall which gives it a monopoly. In the early 2000s, the experienced winemaker saw in this parcel an incomparable quality of grape and proposed a purchase contract to the owner at the time. His hard work to bring the "Clos des Quarts" cuvée to life bore fruit in 2003, but it was in 2011 that history was made with Dominique Lafon, the emblematic winemaker of Meursault, and the sale of the famous plot. Seduced by the potential and Olivier's proposal to buy it together, Dominique embarked on the adventure.
The two star winemakers became co-owners in 2012, signing their first vintage together.
This unprecedented association totally charmed our Winedigger teams.
Conquered by the audacity, the aromatic amplitude and the unequalled elegance of this great white wine, we suggest you "go to the wall" and discover this monopole with a significant ageing potential. Dare, Pouilly Fuissé and vibrate!
