Domaine de Montille
Like all beautiful stories, the story of Domaine de Montille takes us on a journey through time.
The past: its roots.
The present: the new generation.
A skillful blend, a balance between tradition, daring, and modernity.
How can I introduce you to this MYTH? Since 1730, the history of the estate has been a legend among the greatest in Burgundy. The reputation is partly due to the famous Hubert de Montille. After the Second World War, he made his first harvest in 1947 and it was at this time that he broke the custom of selling the wines to merchants. He was one of the first to believe in the destiny of the wine bottled and sold by the estate. Time went by and proved him right, and so Etienne, his son, joined him in 1983 and took over as co-manager in 1995. Ten years later, the conversion to organic farming was decided. Today, it is 35 hectares, 75% of which are Premiers and Grands Crus on the two Côtes, which are managed biodynamically.
The style of the wines has evolved and the austerity of the past has given way to a more gourmet style that gives a bewitching texture while expressing a sincere expression of the terroirs.
This combination of succession and success makes us absolutely in love with this estate.
