Domaine des Closiers

Already a great Loire Valley winemaker!

Spread across 15 hectares of vines on an exceptional clay-limestone terroir, Domaine des Closiers stands tall in the heart of the Saumur-Champigny appellation, in Parnay. A true gem, nestled in a unique terroir.
Its name echoes the legacy of the "closiers", the winemakers who shaped the walled vineyards (called "Clos") and built their troglodytic homes at the foot of the slopes.

Words from the digger

In 2019, Anatole de la Brosse took the helm with a clear vision: to elevate this estate to the ranks of Saumur-Champigny’s finest. And he’s putting his heart and soul into it. The journey begins with a meticulous selection of the best terroirs, guided by the wise counsel of Nady Foucault from Clos Rougeard and biodynamics expert Michel Chevré.

Every detail matters. The choice of barrels from some of the most prestigious domaines (including Domaine Leflaive for the whites) drives the estate’s rapid rise, while precision work in the vineyards—organic farming, yield control, and manual harvests—ensures exceptional quality.

Here, on this blessed land, Cabernet Franc thrives, giving Domaine des Closiers wines the richness and finesse worthy of the greatest Saumur-Champigny. A small touch of Chenin and Chardonnay completes this symphony of grapes, adding an extra layer of complexity.

A tasting at Domaine des Closiers is a deep dive into the very soul of Saumur. The delicate infusion method defines the estate’s signature style—elegant, subtle, and unmistakable. Every bottle reflects the refined craftsmanship of passionate hands.

This is one you don’t want to miss—WINEDIGGER keeps pushing boundaries because “No one should ignore the Loire.” A pure sensory experience awaits!
